A spokesperson for RTL confirms the departure. “In recent weeks, the format of RTL Tonight has been adjusted in various ways,” the spokesperson reports. “As a result, parts that were devised at the start of the program turn out differently in the current design or are omitted. This leaves too little room for Stijn’s talents and ideas.”
De Vries enthusiastically announced two months ago that he was going to work as a reporter for the RTL talk show. He is not the first person to leave the RTL program this month. Carlo van Lienden, editor-in-chief of RTL Tonight, also resigned. He stated that his role was “limited to the start-up phase”.
The program was launched at the beginning of September and attracts an average of between 300,000 and 400,000 viewers. Other talk shows often attract more viewers. Renze Klamer, Humberto Tan and Beau van Erven Dorens alternately present the program.
