Police officers pulled a man off the road in Vinkel on Saturday evening who was driving without lights, driving slowly and weaving across the road. The man appeared to be under the influence. His driver’s license was subsequently taken away, but that did not stop him from getting behind the wheel again moments later.

Officers tracked down the man when he drove noticeably slowly and meandering across the road. During the inspection it soon became apparent that he had looked too deeply into the glass. “When we were approached, we almost fell backwards from the smell of alcohol,” the officers wrote on social media.

A breath test showed that the man had drunk three times the legal limit: 1.5 per mille instead of the permitted 0.5. Due to the gross violation, his driver’s license was confiscated and the intoxicated driver was issued a report.

Latest list of violations
Almost an hour later, the officers drove past the site of the inspection again. To their great surprise, they saw the same driver, with the driver’s license that had just been taken away, simply driving away again. Although the breath test was slightly lower the second time, that was not nearly enough to get behind the wheel again.

The man was ultimately sent home with a laundry list of violations: two counts of driving under the influence, ignoring a driving ban, driving with a suspended driver’s license and driving without lights. His car has also been seized.
