With a hidden shot from Maximilian Beier in stoppage time, Borussia Dortmund secured a home win against 1. FC Köln.
With the 1-0 (0-0), Borussia Dortmund initially moves up to third place in the table, but can still be overtaken by VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. Cologne falls to eighth place. Maximilian Beier scored late to win (90+6). Cologne is also worried about Timo Hübers, who twisted his knee in the final phase. “He is upset and crying because he is in a lot of pain. We will miss him for months”said Cologne coach Lukas Kwasniok on “Sky”.

El Mala misses a great opportunity to give Cologne the lead
Cologne started the game a little better, new hopeful Said El Mala had a great chance to put his team in the lead in the 19th minute. Schwäbe makes Dortmund despair for a long time

Cologne had ten men after Hübers’ injury – Beier with the late winning goal
In the 84th minute, Cologne’s Timo Hübers was carried off the pitch. Hübers tackled Guirassy and apparently suffered a serious knee injury. His club has not yet published a more precise diagnosis. FC had already made five changes and had to finish the game with ten men.
So the decision was made deep into stoppage time. After a corner from the right, Maximilian Beier finished – Schwäbe in the Cologne goal was still on the ball, but could not fend off the hidden shot. (90.+6).
“In basketball you would say: buzzer beater“, said BVB coach Niko Kovac after the game in the Sportschau interview: “Sometimes a 3-0 is not as nice as a 1-0 in the last second.”
BVB now away four times, Cologne twice at home
Dortmund plays at Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup on Tuesday (6.30 p.m.) and then travels to FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga the following Friday (8.30 p.m.). In total, BVB has four away games in a row: After that, they continue in the Champions League against Manchester City before BVB has to play Hamburger SV.
Cologne, on the other hand, has two home games: FC welcomes FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday (8:45 p.m./live on Erste) and meets Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga the following Sunday (3:30 p.m.).
