Sparta was the better team and had the most chances, but the home team handled them sloppily. Telstar put up little objection. The newly promoted club from Velsen-Zuid pushed more towards the end of the match and Guus Offerhaus had the equalizer on his foot, but he shot the ball just wide.
Telstar already suffered its seventh defeat. Coach Anthony Correia’s team is still leaning on the stunt victory against PSV, but has not yet been able to convince against other opponents.
Busy start Ronald Koeman
Against Sparta, Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman had to take action shortly after kick-off. He stopped Ayoub Oufkir’s effort, who got the ball at his feet after an incorrect pass from a Telstar defender. Moments later, Koeman had to save again from a header by Bruno Martins Indi.
Sparta struck after 25 minutes. Oufkir neatly passed the ball to Lauritsen, who was able to score from close range.
