In addition to the sporting ups and downs of current or former Bundesliga clubs, “Rise & Fall” also shows how romance and passion meet the constraints of modern football. Players, coaches, fans and other colorful characters talk about the dramatic conflicts and intrigues that have taken place in the clubs over the past decades.
Rise & Fall of 1860 Munich
The five-part series tells one of the craziest club stories in German football: the historic march through to the Bundesliga in the Karl-Heinz Wildmoser era, the eternal love for the Grünwalder Stadium and the fateful time for the Lions in the Allianz Arena, which ends with the entry of the first Arab investor in Bundesliga history.
The authors Lennart Bedford-Strohm, Robert Grantner, Christoph Nahr and Max Stockinger trace the constant ups and downs of 1860 Munich over the last decades – in the area of tension between the romanticism of football and the constraints of modern professional football. They illuminate the innermost parts of one of the most traditional clubs in Germany. Club legends like Fredi Heiß, Peter Pacult, Benny Lauth and Daniel Bierofka take viewers on an emotional journey through time through the 60s, 90s and 2000s.

And: For the first time, the television team managed to interview Hasan Ismaik, the first Arab investor in Bundesliga history, in his private property in Abu Dhabi.
