Despite the national team’s bumpy start to World Cup qualification, the President of the German Football Association believes that things will be clear after the remaining two games.
“That we qualify directly for the finals in the USA,” answered Bernd Neuendorf in the Frankfurter Rundschau when asked what he expected from the selection in November.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will play in Luxembourg on November 14th, and three days later they will face Slovakia in Leipzig.
The DFB team leads Group A with nine points ahead of the Slovaks, who are tied on points. Only the group winner qualifies directly for next year’s finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The draw for the preliminary round groups is scheduled for December 5th in Washington.

With regard to the World Cup goals, Neuendorf formulated it diplomatically: “I am in regular contact with many colleagues from other associations. And I can assure you: once we have qualified for the World Cup, no one will like to see us in their group.”
