The Dutch top rider started the omnium with a win in the scratch, came sixth in the tempo race, was last in the elimination race and finished with first place in the points race.

She won the latter part after a mighty sprint in the final lap and ended up with 136 points, 9 more than the French Marion Borras, who won silver. Denmark’s Amalie Dideriksen earned bronze with 120 points.

Wiebes is the second Dutch world champion in the versatile event. Kirsten Wild won the world title at the omnium in 2018 and 2019.

The professional rider from the SD Worx-Protime team has already had a particularly successful season on the road. She won 25 races and became world champion in gravel riding a week and a half ago.
