Chelsea FC signed midfield talent Reggie Walsh with a professional contract shortly after his 17th birthday. The English youth international has already played for the Blues professionals four times for over 117 minutes – twice last season in the Conference League. In the 5-1 Champions League win against Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday, Walsh became the youngest player to appear for Chelsea in the premier class.
“I like all the players from the academy, but Reggie is the one I like the most,” said head coach Enzo Maresca, according to the BBC in September. “I like Reggie because he does things that I ask the other players to do, but he does those things without me asking him to do it. I don’t have to ask him to do it. What he does is already what I expect him to do.”
