Renze Klamer: see you this summer rising star from RTL 4, now in the drain of the Media Park. Things can move quickly in Hilversum. Even the elections don’t help him. “So sad.”
The Netherlands is almost going to the polls and that is normally the moment when viewing figures for current TV programs rise to record levels. This also applies now, except for the RTL 4 tandem that Arjen Lubach and Renze Klamer are on. Actually, hardly anyone in the country is interested in these two gentlemen.
‘Elections live’
While Arjen suffers from Lubach fatigue, Renze has been disadvantaged by his boss Peter van der Vorst. That took him off his successful talk show of the same name to muddle through in the soulless RTL Tonight. Last night’s viewing figures say it all: while colleagues are setting records, Renze is drowning in the viewing figures swamp.
SBS 6 managed to record a masterful 2 million viewers with Wilfred Genee’s Debate of the Netherlands. “Wow, incredibly high!” says TV authority Tina Nijkamp analysis channel. “This MONSTER SCORE says that people were really waiting for the first debate with Geert Wilders’ participation and it is also certain that the elections are very much alive.”
VI also scores
Today Inside managed to record 1.3 million viewers immediately after the debate. “A season record!!! The previous one was last Friday with Geert Wilders: 1.042 million viewers. Including postponed, this has just become almost 1.4 million viewers, it has just been announced,” said Tina.
Pauw & De Wit scored a neat 768 thousand viewers and Eva Jinek, which in addition to the Suzan & Freek interview also looked ahead to the debate, reached 1.2 million viewers. That is the most viewed regular broadcast of Eva ever.
Renze muddles through
Only RTL 4 remains behind. “It is striking in comparison to Lubach’s very low score. It does not seem to play the leading role in these elections on television in any case: 586 thousand viewers. Oh, and then RTL Tonight. It lags behind in total with only 284 thousand viewers. This score on THIS evening unfortunately says it all.”
Tina sympathizes with Renze. “Once again, the program doesn’t matter at all. Really sad for the makers and Renze. His look at the end of the broadcast and especially at the Wiesje item says enough. Speaks volumes. Sad for him. Urgent advice for RTL: Go EXACTLY BACK to how it was!!!! Including name of show host!!!!”
