Entrepreneur, podcaster and death doula Nina Mikkonen61, tells his social media followers that he received nasty comments on his Instagram story the other day.

In his Instagram story, Mikkonen talked about his warm meeting with the doctor. Mikkonen apologized for his “loud and wrinkled” nature, but still wanted to share the story of his good time.

Mikkonen is now thanking his social media followers who sent empathetic messages in his Instagram post. However, he says that he also received “stopping” messages, especially about his appearance.

– “Don’t be a good person. Post stuff like that, where you look awful! You’re used to being seen happy and well-groomed”, Mikkonen lists the messages he’s received.

– I thought that for a moment. If I, a 61-year-old woman, am not allowed to show my own life honestly, then what is wrong with us? Are we allowed to exist only if the makeup and light is flattering and the smile remains in place? That if life is visible on the face, it must be covered with a filter?

Mikkonen feels that people have detached themselves from reality.

– We only want to follow the tin bubble, not people. But life is not just a glossy picture. It’s also cloudy light, tiredness, crying faces and love that can be seen in wrinkles, Mikkonen reminds.

– I’m not going to pretend that I’m always fine. I’m a person, not a show. And if it hurts someone’s eye – maybe it says more about what we are forgetting: reality, he concludes his writing.

Mikkonen has intervened in commenting on her appearance before. For example, in January 2024, Mikkonen said on Instagram that he had heard a comment about his weight at his work gig. According to Mikkonen, one person told him that the entrepreneur had gained weight after he won The Biggest Dropper-TV competition in 2019.

– True, I am. But I want to say one thing that no one knows about another person’s life other than what everyone here on social media wants to tell about themselves. We all have sorrows – some a little smaller and others bigger, depending on which angle you look at it, Mikkonen responded to the comment he received with his video.

– My last year was such that I’m glad I’m alive at all. I suffer from moderate depression and I can tell you that it’s not always nice, he added.
