The Welshman lost 6-3 to Daryl Gurney at the European Championships – for the second year in a row. Price missed no fewer than 14 of his 17 doubles. “I was just lucky today, because normally there is fog Gezzy there are not that many,” Gurney responded afterwards in the press room in the Westfalenhallen.

Afterwards, Price traditionally put up a message Instagram. “Sometimes you just know and this week I knew it,” he said. “I have thrown away so many legs, just like in the last few matches. However, I will continue and see that I am ready for the Grand Slam in a few weeks. Sorry to everyone who always supports me, I promise that I will continue to make an effort to win these kinds of matches.”

Refuel at half past three at night

A little later Price explained Facebook from what went wrong around the European Championships “When I left for the airport, I first went to refuel,” he said. “However, at half past two in the morning, the payment machine was broken. After about 20 minutes, it was sorted again. The drive to the airport and parking would normally only take 10 minutes, but in the end I only got to the airport 2 hours before my flight. The check-in staff then arrived 35 minutes late, but I got through security just in time. The flight was great.”

Price then wanted to take the train from Düsseldorf to Dortmund, but that also turned out differently than planned. “I was standing on platform 4, while I thought it was platform 5. The train therefore stopped behind me. I had to hurry and therefore I forgot my suitcase on the platform. Luckily I had a tracker, so my phone alerted me that the suitcase was no longer near me. About 50 minutes later, upon my return, luckily my suitcase was still there. The next train, 45 minutes later, was good. After finally arriving in Dortmund, I was able to I a take a taxi to the hotel. However, the driver only wanted to accept cash. I looked everywhere for an ATM, but without success. I finally managed to get enough money out of my pocket.”

Hotel or hostel?

So Price had arrived at his hotel quite frustrated, which according to… The Iceman “looked like a hostel.” He tried to change hotels, but there was nothing left available in the center because Borussia Dortmund is playing the derby against 1. FC Köln this weekend. And that was not the end of the horror for the ex-world champion.

“The next morning I was at breakfast at 9:54 am. It didn’t close until 10:00 am, but everything was already gone. Great! Anyway, at 1:00 pm the fire alarm went off. Everyone had to go outside for a while, apparently there was something smoking in a room. I then went to play darts, thinking that nothing else could go wrong. Yes, I was in a bad mood and lost. I then went back to my hotel angry. me: ‘Oh well, tomorrow I’m going home. Then I booked a 7am flight to Heathrow, only to realize I had flown from home, i.e. from Birmingham (where his car was, ed.). What a great two days.”
