They are among the world’s best: Philipp Nawrath and the Norwegian Karoline Offigstad Knotten. The biathletes were also together privately, but the couple is now separated.

Philipp Nawrath is one of the German top performers and wants to attack again this winter. In his private life, the biathlon star was most recently with the Norwegian Karoline Offigstad Knotten. In the past, the two appeared in love in the finish area or gave each other a kiss – but that is now over.

The DSV star confirmed the separation on the Norwegian broadcaster TV2. Nawrath said: “It didn’t work out between us, but we are ‘good’. Everything is fine.” Knotten also confirmed this when asked by the broadcaster: “It’s over, but we are good friends. But I’m happy and happy.”

The two confirmed their relationship at the end of 2023. At the time, Knotten told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK when asked: “We didn’t hide it, we just didn’t market it in any way.”

With a view to the World Cup at the time, she said: “In the finish area I got kisses and hugs. So anyone who wanted to notice would have noticed.” At the time, the Norwegians were said to have called her a “traitor” with a smile because in the past she had not only kept her fingers crossed for her male teammates, but also for her boyfriend.

Knotten once responded to comments that she was cheering for Germany: “No, I stood up for Philipp and the Norwegians.” Knotten is happy with Nawrath even after the end of the relationship – and already has a new partner again. She now told TV2: “He lives a little closer and speaks English. He lives in Norway. That makes it a little easier.”

In terms of sport, Knotten hasn’t had an easy time of it. She no longer trains with the Norwegian national team after there was a disagreement over training content in the spring. The second-best Norwegian from last season is still optimistic.

She told TV2: “I still have a lot of work to do, but now I’ll prepare myself mentally and have a good season.” Biathlon icon Ole Einar Bjørndalen is skeptical and told the broadcaster: “Knotten’s situation is not optimal. The best should be in the national team.” But he insisted: “I have great confidence in them for the winter.”
