Animal activist Peter Janssen caused controversial television in early 2008 by appearing dressed in only a pair of underpants in the Paul de Leeuw show Mooi Weer de Leeuw. He has since been known as the vegan streaker. What this Peter did not take into account at the time is that Paul really embarrassed him on TV by ripping off his underpants.

Vegan streaker

Seventeen years later, vegan streaker Peter does the same trick again, but this time in Eva Jinek’s talk showwhere he appeared at the beginning of the broadcast yesterday. Suddenly the viewer saw him walking behind Eva. In no time he manages to get close to the presenter.

Peter explains to her: “Eva, one minute of speaking time for the animals. It is always about human themes here, and I also think it is important that we talk about animals.”

“It’s up to you!”

Eva lets out a deep sigh. “They’ll definitely be talking about your outfit, I’m sure. They’ve seen you.”

When this Peter is led out of the studio, Eva turns back to political analyst Joost Vullings: “Joost, talk about those animals for once, man! It’s up to you! Are we all going to get naked people in the studio!”

Effortlessly elegant

Media journalist Jef Willemsen thinks it’s clever of Eva. “Streaker in your studio. As a vegan, you throw your own meat into battle to draw attention to the meat industry… Give my portion to Fikkie. An effortlessly elegant solution from Jinek,” he writes. X.

TV critic Victor Vlam, also op X: “A streaker disrupts Eva’s broadcast. It is one of the few moments that we really saw considerable irritation from Jinek. Rightly so, of course. This was a hopeless action.”

Unsafe

The big question is: how can someone get so close to Eva live on television? AvroTros says it is reviewing security at Eva’s talk show. The talk show is recorded at De Hallen Studios in Amsterdam.

The broadcaster says the incident is being evaluated, writes The Telegraph. “We make no statements about any subsequent steps.”
