A well-known name will play at TuS Eichlinghofen in the second half of the season. The club announces the personnel with an unusual video.
Comeback for Kevin Großkreutz: The former national player will play for the Dortmund club TuS Eichlinghofen in the regional league in the second half of the season. The club announced this on Thursday – with an unusual video on Instagram. It shows the 37-year-old coming into the clubhouse with a sports bag, signing a beer mat and finally posing with the club’s jersey.
“The fish has chosen its new pond until the end of the 2026/2027 season!” wrote the club from southwest Dortmund. Großkreutz himself commented on the post with emojis and shared the video.
Coach Marc Neul spoke to the “Ruhr Nachrichten“: “We are incredibly happy and proud that he is really keen to play for us.” According to the report, the world champion is eligible to play from the second half of the season.
For Großkreutz it is the next chapter in an eventful football career. He was only released in September after just seven games at sixth division club SV Wacker Obercastrop. There he worked as part of a coaching duo.
The Dortmund native played 176 Bundesliga games for Borussia Dortmund and ten more for VfB Stuttgart. With BVB he became German champion twice and won the DFB Cup. In 2014 he was in the German national team’s squad at the World Cup in Brazil, but did not play there. He ended his professional career in 2021. In the small-field “Baller League” he looks after a team together with Marco Reus.
