Paul Green gives up production site in Mattsee, Austria.

The shoe manufacturer is closing its production at the Mattsee site, Paul Green announced on Thursday. The reasons for the decision are the persistently difficult economic conditions, general consumer restraint and the recently introduced punitive tariffs on exports to the USA.

“This decision was very difficult for us,” explains Jürgen Posch, Managing Director for Production. “We know how important the location is for our employees and for the region. Nevertheless, this step is necessary in order to position the company securely for the future despite the changed market conditions.”

Despite great efforts, it was not possible to maintain local shoe production in Mattsee. In order to secure the production structures in the long term and remain competitive, in the future production will primarily take place in the branch in Prelog, Croatia. However, the company’s headquarters remains in Mattsee.

In the coming weeks, the company will work with employees, the works council and local authorities to find fair and socially acceptable solutions for employees.
