Today, GVB director Claudia Zuiderwijk, together with colleagues, handed out free day tickets at North station. She did this because last month no GVB buses were running for hours in Noord due to the permits not being in order.
On the cards the text said ‘sorry’. “North must be easily accessible,” says Zuiderwijk. “We find it very annoying that this was not the case for a day last month due to the bus cancellation. That is why we are standing here now and starting the conversation.”
The transport company did not have the permits on the buses themselves, even though they should have. That became apparent during a police check on September 25. After officers removed 23 buses from the road, the GVB decided to cancel all bus lines in Noord.
Councilors Melanie van der Horst (Traffic) and Alexander Scholtes (Participations) responded indignantjust like one large part of the municipal council. Scholtes recently announced that there will be one external research comes to the transport company.
