This weekend the new alpine ski season will be heralded with the start in Sölden. Who can secure the first World Cup points?

The German Ski Association (DSV) will be at the start this weekend with a ten-strong squad, led by Lena Dürr, Emma Aicher and Linus Straßer. There is still a question mark over the participation of former world champion Alexander Schmid, who received official clearance for the races after his second cruciate ligament tear in ten months, but recently left it open whether he would actually make a comeback in the giant slalom this weekend.

You can follow live whether Schmid will return to Sölden and how strong the DSV squad will be at the start of the Olympic season. t-online tells you when and where.

Yes, ZDF is broadcasting the start of the World Cup live on free TV. The second run for men and women will be broadcast in the “Sportstudio”. On Saturday the live broadcast starts at 12:15 p.m. and on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. Anyone interested in the first runs of the day can watch them live from 10 a.m. on sportstudio.de and via the ZDF streaming portal.

The races on the Rettenbachferner will be moderated by Amelie Stiefvatter, and Marco Büchel will be the expert. The runs will be commented on by Julius Hilfenhaus for the women and Fabian Meseberg for the men.
