VfL Bochum has given Alessandro Crimaldi a professional contract, as the second division club announced on Thursday evening. The offensive talent celebrated his 18th birthday just under a month ago. The Italian, who was born in Würzburg and trained at VfL Wolfsburg for two years, is now committed to Bochum until 2029.

Crimaldi played 33 times for the Revierklub in the U19 last season, contributing eleven goals and 13 assists. His next step on the way to the professionals should be the regional league team, where the winger provided an assist in his first appearance last Saturday against Wuppertal (2:2). In Wolfsburg, Crimaldi scored 18 goals in 26 games for the U17s and prepared 16 more goals.

“Alessandro Crimaldi is a great talent and is on a very good path to professional football,” explained Bochum’s youth director Pablo Thiam. “He’s not just a finishing player, but also sets the scene for his teammates. With the U21, we at VfL have the opportunity to get him used to the senior level at an early stage. In this way, we hope to introduce him to the professionals step by step.” Crimaldi explained: “I have felt very comfortable in Bochum since my arrival. It was the right step for my development and I am ready to take the next step here at VfL. I am aware that I have to continue to work hard on myself and give everything to achieve my goals.”
