FC Bayern has strengthened itself with ex-NBA professional Spencer Dinwiddie. The experienced guard will come until the end of the season and will take on a key role under coach Gordon Herbert.
The German basketball champions Bayern Munich have presented a well-known newcomer. Long-time NBA professional Spencer Dinwiddie has signed a contract with world champion coach Gordon Herbert’s team until the end of the season, the Munich-based company announced. The 32-year-old was most recently under contract in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets, but was released last week before the start of the season.
“Spencer is an electrifying player, he can score and create for others and had great years in the NBA,” said Herbert, who knows Dinwiddie from their time together at the Brooklyn Nets, for whom Herbert worked as a coaches consultant in the 2019/2020 season.
Dinwiddie played much of his NBA career for the Dallas Mavericks, including 79 appearances last season. There he acted alongside Luka Dončić, among others. Between 2021 and 2023 he played for the team where Dirk Nowitzki once crowned his career.
Dinwiddie made his NBA debut in 2014 with the Detroit Pistons. In addition to Detroit, Dallas and Brooklyn, the guard was also under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Wizards. He recently only played pre-season games for the Hornets.
