Oleksandr Usyk reigns supreme as the undefeated and undisputed heavyweight world champion. According to a promoter, the Ukrainian boxing king is still missing a victory to complete his feat.
Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois: Oleksandr Usyk has beaten the British heavyweight elite – twice each.
With his knockout triumph over Dubois in the summer, the 38-year-old exceptional boxer unified the world championship belts of the four major boxing associations (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO) for the second time in his unique career.
There is no question that Usyk stands alone at the top of the heavyweight division and, according to almost all experts, could immediately sail into the sunset of his career and would have his ticket to the front row in the pantheon of the greatest boxing icons in history.
David Higgins, promoter of former world champion Joseph Parker, sees things a little differently. “If he doesn’t fight Parker, I would say he hasn’t boxed all the best of his era,” Higgins said on Sky Sports.
In order to have a “perfect record,” he “needs the Parker fight,” said the New Zealander. “That would be a wonderful fight if it happens.”
Kabayel fight confirmed: “Boxing is back in Germany”
Kiwi fighter Parker, interim WBO world champion, will meet Briton Fabio Wardley in London on Saturday. The winner of the duel will challenge Usyk in 2026. In any case, the WBO has obliged the world champion to do this.
“I think Usyk is an honorable man, one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the history of the sport,” said Higgins, ennobling the world champion. He is sure that Usyk sees “that Joseph earned the opportunity the good old way by taking the hard way.”
Parker recently won against the highly rated Martin Bakole (Congo/2025) and Zhang Zhilei (China/2024). At the end of 2023, the former WBO world champion also defeated the former WBC champion and knockout Deontay Wilder.
Germany’s heavyweight star Agit Kabayel is also hoping for a world championship fight against Usyk. The “Leberking” from Bochum is WBC interim champion and will defend the title on January 10th in Oberhausen, as Kabayel’s promoter Queensberry confirmed.
