Now that the storm season has started, they hold dear at Prince George’s beach pavilion. “We are getting ready for a storm again,” says director Harm Jansen. “We are removing the glass windows from the conservatory, among other things, so that they do not break. We also hope that it will not be too bad in terms of the exit from the beach.”
Because time and time again flushes the entrance until the beach bar disappears from under their feet. Also the predecessor of the Prince George, beach club Luctor et Emergo, faced the same problem.
The beach tent is located in a special place: the Hondsbossche Duinen. These dunes and the beach were built over the Hondsbossche and Pettemer sea walls. That stone sea wall was one of the last weak links on the North Holland coast.
35 million cubic meters of sand sprayed
Until ten years ago coastal reinforcement project ‘Kust op Kracht’ was completed. Never before has sand been sprayed onto the outside of the stone sea wall on such a large scale. 35 million cubic meters, twenty AZ stadiums full, four hundred football fields in size and six kilometers long.
