The Toronto Blue Jays’ entry into the World Series also has consequences for the city’s other franchises. Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs league games have been postponed.
The Raptors’ home games against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday and Houston Rockets on October 29th have been moved from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Maple Leafs’ game against the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday will now take place at 5 p.m., not 7 p.m., and Tuesday’s match against the Calgary Flames will start at 6 p.m.
The Blue Jays, returning to the World Series for the first time since 1993, play their first two home games in the best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
“Each of these schedule changes is quite complex and requires the collaboration of many stakeholders – including the respective leagues, Leafs and Raptors coaches and players, opposing teams and broadcast partners,” said Keith Pelley, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which owns both affected franchises.
The Maple Leafs and Raptors will broadcast World Series games on the video board at Scotiabank Arena after their own home games.
“Toronto’s sports fans are undoubtedly some of the most passionate in the world. We are proud that our city’s teams are coming together and giving these fans the opportunity to experience a significant moment in the history of our city and our country,” said Pelley.
