Kompany changes: surprise in Bayern’s starting eleven

After winning the classic against BVB, the Munich team continues in the premier class. The coach is making two changes against Bruges.
FC Bayern is aiming for its next league phase victory in the Champions League. Coach Vincent Kompany meets a team from his homeland for the first time with Club Brugge. Before kick-off it was already clear: The 39-year-old Kompany, whose contract was extended the day before until 2029, would have to do without national player Serge Gnabry (adductor problems), as he did recently. For this purpose, a young professional moves into the starting line-up.
Lennart Karl can start in place of Nicolas Jackson in the last Champions League duel against Pafos FC. Jonathan Tah also moves into the defensive line for Min-jae Kim alongside Dayot Upamecano.

Otherwise, Kompany relies on well-known staff. Manuel Neuer is in goal, Konrad Laimer and Raphaël Guerreiro, who was on the bench against BVB last Saturday, play at full-back. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović look after the midfield, while the attack consists of Karl, Michael Olise, Luis Díaz and Harry Kane.
The long-term injured Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Itō are still unavailable. The encounter with Bruges comes too early for Josip Stanišić (knee injury), Kompany explained on Tuesday.
Bayern started the premier class with two wins against Chelsea FC (3:1) and Pafos FC (5:1). Bruges with the German U21 vice-European champion Nicolò Tresoldi initially defeated AS Monaco (4:1) and then lost to Atalanta Bergamo (1:2) despite being in the lead.
