Daiki Hashimoto won the world title in the all-around for the third time in a row, while Timo Eder missed out on making it into the top ten despite a good half-time performance.

Timo Eder missed out on a top ten place in the all-around competition at the World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta following Diaki Hashimoto’s celebrated hat-trick of titles. The 20-year-old mixed European champion from Ludwigsburg scored 76.799 points in the first final of the title fights in Indonesia’s capital and took 19th place.

Too many mistakes in the second half of the six-event competition consisting of vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar, floor, pommel horse and rings prevented a better placement for the World Cup debutant. He qualified for the final in 13th place.

“The last two devices could have run much better,” said Eder after the competition. “The other equipment was okay. The horizontal bar in particular was very good, I’m also very happy with the others. I’m happy about the experience I had. I’m a bit proud now.”

Hashimoto prevails against Zhang

In what has been an exciting competition for the top for a long time, Daiki Hashimoto prevailed for the third time in a row, as he did in 2022 and 2023. The 24-year-old Japanese won with 85.131 points ahead of China’s Boheng Zhang (84.333). The Swiss Noe Seifert came third with 82.831 points.

This is how the competition went for Timo Eder

Eder started on vault with 13.900 points. He more than made up for the loss of 0.133 points compared to the qualification with 13.333 points on the parallel bars, on which he won bronze at the home European Championships in Leipzig.

With 13,533 points on the high bar, the Ludwigsburg player improved Comparison to elimination significantly and claimed eighth place at the halfway point of the decision. Due to a shaky presentation on the floor, during which he stepped out of the competition area, among other things, the German all-around champion lost important tenths with only 13,000 points.

A subsequent relegation on the pommel horse and only 11,633 points robbed the 20-year-old of any chance of a top ten placement. At the end on the rings, Eder fell on the dismount and had to make do with just 11.400 points.
