TÖPEN (dpa-AFX) – The founder of the Denree Group, a wholesaler of organic food and natural cosmetics, is dead. Thomas Greim died at the age of 73 with his family, as the company based in Töpen, Upper Franconia, announced. The group supplies numerous organic supermarkets in Germany and neighboring countries and operates its own stores under the Denns Biomarkt brand.

In more than five decades, Greim has shaped the organic industry in Germany like no other, it was said. “With entrepreneurship, courage and foresight, he developed a founding idea into the leading organic specialist retailer in the German-speaking region and a strong network of over 400 Denns organic markets and a network of independent specialist shops.”

The company was founded in 1974. Today, the group says it employs around 8,200 people and has annual sales of around 1.5 billion euros. Since January 2025, two of Greim’s eight children have continued to run the company./ses/DP/nas
