Liverpool’s series of crises never ends: one day before the Champions League game against Eintracht, a plane breakdown causes chaos. What exactly happened.

The series of mishaps at Liverpool FC doesn’t stop. One day before the Champions League game at Eintracht Frankfurt, the English football champions were slowed down by technical problems: due to a plane breakdown, the club had to cancel the press conference in Frankfurt scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Actually, Liverpool coach Arne Slot and player Dominik Szoboszlai, who moved to the island from RB Leipzig in 2023, should have been available to answer questions from the media from 7:30 p.m. German time. However, the technical problems with the aircraft and the resulting delay canceled this appointment.

Later in the evening, the Premier League team was able to take off for Frankfurt, as the club announced on Instagram shortly before departure. The delay will have no impact on the preparation for the game, said coach Slot in a club statement.

Eintracht and Liverpool will face each other on Wednesday (9 p.m./DAZN) on the third matchday of the league phase in the Champions League. The game in Germany will be special, especially for Hugo Ekitiké, who moved from Eintracht to Liverpool in the summer, but also for ex-Bundesliga players Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, said Slot.

Liverpool had previously suffered four defeats in a row and is therefore in a sporting crisis. The plane breakdown is now another setback for the “Reds” around national player Florian Wirtz.
