Marcelo Mendez’s adventure on the bench of the Italian champions starts off on the right foot. The Trentino coach chooses Ramon to make up for the absence of the injured Lavia, but it is the usual Michieletto who drags his teammates together with Faure. Serving and blocking are fundamental in the first half, then Cisterna, led by debutant Daniele Morato, grows in the ball exchange and tries to stay attached to the opponents until the break of the usual Michieletto who scores the 14-10 and the decisive escape of the second set. Many serving errors characterize the third set in which Trento debuts the very young Giani (born in 2007) who puts his name on the scoresheet with an attack and ace for the 3-0 of the Italians.

Monza gets off to a flying start and scares Perugia by winning the first set in which the Brianza team flies to 18-13 by taking advantage of some reception errors from their opponents and then defends the lead with an excellent Padar and an attentive Marttila. At this point, however, the Umbrians shift into high gear and grow in every fundamental, they easily win the second half by focusing on Loser and Plotnytskyi and confirm themselves in the sprint of the third. With Ben Tara on the shields also comes the success in the fourth set which materializes the beautiful comeback of Lorenzetti’s team.
