FC Bayern has extended the contract with coach Vincent Kompany early. The new working paper is valid until 2029. Previously it would have expired in 2027. Kompany has been on the sidelines at FCB since the 2024/25 season and scored an average of 2.33 points in 67 games. He also won the championship and the DFL Supercup with the club.

“The contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a strong vote of confidence from the club after its great work so far, and also a clear sign of continuity and stability at FC Bayern. Vincent Kompany is highly valued by the players, the club management and the fans. We are pleased about the early expansion of our cooperation,” said President Herbert Hainer.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: “Vincent Kompany has brought the fun back to FC Bayern – and the spark has really ignited. Under his leadership, a real team has grown that plays dominant and attractive football. The extension is also a signal to our players. I also appreciate Vincent’s level-headedness: he never pushes himself into the foreground and makes our players better with his meticulous work.” According to sports director Max Eberl, Kompany is “an identification figure who unites players, fans and everyone in the club, and we want to develop something with him in the long term.”

Kompany came to FCB in the summer of 2024 as Thomas Tuchel’s successor. He previously coached RSC Anderlecht in Belgium and FC Burnley in England. “I am grateful, feel honored and would like to thank FC Bayern for the trust and the working environment that they have offered me from day one. It feels like I have been here for a lot longer and that I understand the club well. So far it has been a great experience, we have started a wonderful journey. Let us continue to work hard and celebrate many more successes!”, said former central defender Kompany in the Club statement quoted.
