The USA is joining Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica in bidding to host the 2031 Women’s World Cup.
The US Soccer Association announced this on Monday (October 20, 2025, local time). The alliance from the continental association CONCACAF is the only applicant for the first final round, which will be played with 48 teams.
“Together we have an extraordinary opportunity to host the largest and most influential Women’s World Cup”said US Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone, who emphasized that she “incredibly proud” on the joint application.
Gianni Infantino, president of the world governing body FIFA, confirmed the USA as the only applicant in April and announced that there would most likely be co-hosts. The tournament will be awarded at the FIFA Congress on April 30, 2026 in Vancouver, Canada.
World Cup 2027 in Brazil
The United States and Mexico had originally planned to bid for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. However, they withdrew their candidacy just weeks before the 2024 FIFA vote in Bangkok to focus on a successful bid for 2031.
The 2027 finals will take place in Brazil, a tournament Germany and the Netherlands and Belgium had also tried to organize.
