October 20 – 11.52pm – MILAN

The Super League season begins, here are the reports of the first matches: Civitanova-Grottazzolina, Milan-Modena, Verona-Piacenza and Padova-Cuneo. The first day of the Super League will end tomorrow evening with Cisterna welcoming the reigning champions from Trento while Perugia will play at the home of Vero Volley Monza. Both races will start at 8.30pm.

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA – YUASA BATTERY GROTTAZZOLINA 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23)

The four exes in Grottazzolina are not enough to succeed in the feat of defeating the winning Lube once again in the derby which confirms the queen of Marche volleyball and maintains the unbeaten record of her team that has lasted since last year. The red and whites controlled the first two sets, then Grottazzolina, thanks to Magalini and the Iranian Golzadeh, raised its head again, fighting until the end. What made the difference was a world-class Nikolov (MVP) and a decisive Bottolo with aces at the start of the quarter.

Civitanova: Nikolov 30 points. Blocks team 6. Ace team 12. Gargiulo 3 blocks. Nikolov 4 ace, Bottolo 3 ace Grottazzolinto: Magalini 13 points. Team blocks 7. Team ace 3. Petkov 3 blocks.

ALLIANZ MILAN – VALSA GROUP MODENA 3-2 (23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 37-35, 15-11)

The match that ended the last championship returns in an interminable battle with the Emilians who go ahead 2-0 but when they seem to have the match in hand they suffer the return of Milan characterized by an epic fourth set which opens the door to the tie break where the Milanese led by an immense Reggers complete the comeback. A spectacular and unexpected first match that gives emotions and well-deserved points to both teams.

Milan: Reggers 28 points. Team blocks 10. Team aces 10. Masulovic 4 blocks, Caneschi 3 aces.

Modena: Davyskiba 26 points. Blocks team 16. Ace team 5. Sanguinetti 4 blocks, Davyskiba 4 blocks.

SONEPAR PADOVA – MA ACQUA S.BERNARDO CUNEO 3-2 (26-24, 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13)

Little show, many mistakes, 50 wrong jokes. In the end Sonepar prevailed, making fewer mistakes in the tie-break and scoring the first two points of the season. Balanced match from the first to the last ball, with Masulovic (mvp of the match) making the difference in the most important moments. Baranowicz’s playmaking was splendid, as always, capable of putting his attackers in the best conditions. Cuneo consoled itself with a strong performance on its return to the Super League, gaining a point for its ranking.

Padua: Masulovic 22 points. Blocks team 9. Ace team 5. Masulovic 5 blocks.

Wedge: Feral 21, Sedlacek 21 points. Walls team 8. Aces team 7. Feral 4 aces.

Rana Verona – Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza 3-1 (25-22 16-25 29-27 25-20)

Verona and Piacenza are two teams that changed a lot in the summer, but the result is the same as last season, with the Venetians also winning the two regular season matches last year. In the first set the guests attacked better but the difference was made by the serves of Cortesia and Vitelli, who were decisive in the breaks that directed the fraction. Then it is Bovolenta (9 points with 90 percent in attack) who puts the seal on the second half, while in the very balanced third part the hosts close with the fifth useful ball. The owner of the quarter changes often. Piacenza leads 16-14 with an excellent Simon serving (he will close with 7 aces in total), Verona changes gear and flies 22-18 and then wins the three points thanks to excellent direction from Christenson and the usual relentless Keita.

Verona: Keita 24 points, Team Blocks: 8. Team Ace: 8. Keita and Christenson 3 blocks

Piacenza: Bovolenta 19 points. Team Blocks: 7. Team Aces: 8. Simon 7 aces
