A national team athlete and mother of two children died in an accident.
Cyclist and triathlete Rebecca Comins died in an accident in the summer of 2022. Now new footage has been released about the accident of the Great Britain national team athlete.
Comins was on a bike run when a 49-year-old man hit him with a van. of The Sun based on the video published by the van, the driver of the van was stopped at the scene of the accident.
Police said in the video that Comins died in the crash. The man reacted strongly to the tragic information.
– The woman is dead, she is dead, the police said to the driver.
– Oh my God, the man said and covered his face, visibly shocked.
The man was told that he had also been arrested. Based on the video, Comins died immediately at the scene of the accident.
The shocking video was published by the BBC The Crash Detectives in the program. BBC:n’s program, the driver’s actions in the accident situation were described as a “catastrophic misjudgment.”

Comins was participating in a local cycling race at the time of the accident. The weather was sunny, and the athlete had a flashing light on his bike and a brightly colored number tag on his back.
Other road users might have thought that the Briton would have been noticed, but the man nevertheless crashed into the back tire of the bike with his van. Comins went airborne and did not survive the crash.
At the police station, the motorist denied driving recklessly or hitting Comins.
– I saw a cyclist. I gave him space and tried to pass him. That’s when I heard a crash, the driver explained.
The driver claimed that he thought the crash was caused by a package that fell from the ride.
The court sentenced the van driver to four years in prison for endangering traffic safety. The court found that the driver could have swerved into the oncoming lane, thus avoiding the accident and Comins’ death.
Comins represented his home country in the European and World Triathlon Championships. The athlete, who died at the age of 52, was the mother of two children.
