Eintracht Braunschweig’s U23s are playing in the top league with reinforcements from the professional team. Nevertheless, the BTSV reserve suffers the next bankruptcy.
For Eintracht Braunschweig’s U23s, the air in the bottom of the league table is getting thinner and thinner. On Saturday, the BTSV reserves had to admit defeat to VfV Borussia Hildesheim with 1:3 (1:2).
Coach Fabian Adelmann’s team diligently made use of the first team’s squad. Six professionals were in the starting line-up as supposed reinforcements. These included goalkeeper Marko Rajkovacic and full-back Mohamed Dräger, who are scheduled for the reserves anyway, but also Sidney Raebiger, Sanoussy Ba, Sidi Sané and Sebastian Polter, who generally play for the professionals.
But there was little of that to be seen against the Hildesheim team. Striker Polter gave Eintracht the lead with a penalty. (4th minute). Mick Gudra (16th/27th) and Karsan Doski (90th + 4th) then scored the visitors’ victory.
Raebiger, who recently returned after a long injury break in the professional friendly against 1. FC Magdeburg (6-0) and scored a goal, even saw a yellow-red card (68th). This means he definitely won’t be there for the first team’s Niedersachsensenderby next Sunday (kick-off: 1:30 p.m.). The other professionals also did not submit a letter of application for a role in the prestigious duel against Hannover. Sané was substituted in the 82nd minute, Ba even in the 63rd minute.
While coach Heiner Backhaus’ professional team ended their negative streak in the 2nd Bundesliga with a 2-1 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf, things continue to look bleak for Eintracht’s U23s. With just four points from ten games, the reserves are 14th in the table. – level with bottom team SV Holthausen/Biene.
