The 120th anniversary match of the Swiss main league team Geneve-Servette got the decision it deserved on Saturday evening, when Jesse Puljujärvi decided the 2-1 victory in overtime against Bern.

The match went on for a long time without goals. The first hit was only seen in the middle of the third period, when Bernin Marco Lehmann managed to put the visitors in the lead with a superior performance.

However, Servette did not give up, but leveled up only 65 seconds before the end of the actual game time. Josh Jooris finished Vili Saarijärvi and by Markus Granlund from preliminary work to a 1–1 handicap.

There was only about a minute of overtime left, when 27-year-old Puljujärvi took the role of the decider. The Finnish forward distracted Bern’s defense with a cool head and surely hit the puck into the net.

After the game, the mood in Servette’s locker room was high. The team’s head coach Ville Peltonen shouted jubilantly in a video shared by the club.

– We never stop! Peltonen shouted with a curse word beginning with v.

In internal team rewards Sakari Manninen chose Puljujärvi as the number one star of the match and handed him a traditional gladiator helmet.

– A player who works like hell [”works his balls off”] every day and every night, Jesse! Manninen praised.

Puljujärvi put his helmet on his head, took his audience and roared after a moment of silence:

– Let’s go!

Puljujärvi moved to the Swiss main league for this season and has immediately become a key player for Servette. He has scored 4+13=17 in 16 matches and is fifth in the league’s points market. The Czech from HC Davos continues to be at the top Matěj Stránský with power points 11+9=20.

Jesse Puljujärvi has started strongly in Switzerland. PDO
