“Now a total of 85,000 euros for KWF,” Luca tells NH reporter Erik-Jan Brinkman about the proceeds just after the finish of the Amsterdam Marathon. Luca has been running marathons for some time. “The first time I ran for KWF, I was between chemo and radiation treatments,” he says.
Luca also had cancer himself, a brain tumor. “I was treated for that and I am very grateful for the treatment I received. That is why I would like to contribute to KWF.”
He has already run a marathon six times in the KWF shirt. By participating, Luca also tries to convey that it is more than just being sick. “You lose fat very quickly, but if you build up a little muscle mass, you can achieve a lot.”
Berlin
Although Luca looks calm, he found the marathon tough today. Today he ran in 3 hours and 28 minutes and looks back on it with satisfaction. “I ran the Berlin Marathon last month and I can still feel it in my legs. I’m glad it’s over,” he says, laughing.
