Both McLarens are whole again
At McLaren, both vehicles were finished on time. Until a few minutes ago, repairs were still being carried out on both cars after the sprint accident. Among other things, the gearboxes were probably replaced, which in this case will not result in a penalty.

The conditions
On the Circuit of The Americas, the 5,513km long track with two DRS zones, there are brutally hot conditions with an outside temperature of 34 degrees and a track temperature of 48 degrees. In addition, there are track limits on this route, which can sometimes cause times to be canceled. The races are becoming fewer and it is still impossible to estimate who will be the driver world champion in 2025. The designers have already decided in favor of McLaren since the last race in Singapore, but now the two drivers from the British racing team have to decide among themselves who will become world champion for the first time. 22 points currently separate Piastri and Norris. After the recent incident in Singapore, Lando Norris was punished internally. What exactly this punishment looks like is not yet known. Or can four-time world champion Max Verstappen be the beneficiary of the team’s internal battle and make up for his 55-point deficit?

Verstappen successful in the sprint
The sprint a few hours ago was won confidently by four-time world champion Max Verstappen with a start/finish victory. So the eight points went to the Dutchman. In the 19-lap race, which ended under the safety car after a collision between Ocon and Stroll, Russell and Sainz were behind, followed by the Ferraris. Both McLaren vehicles went out in turn one after an unfortunate collision between Piastri and Hülkenberg, which also caused Norris to be cleared. The only German driver in the field, who surprisingly started in a strong fourth place, was able to continue driving after the accident, but did not get past 13th place.
