Linda de Mol is visibly uncomfortable when she receives an indirect question from RTL Tonight reporter Jaïr Ferwerda about her husband Jeroen Rietbergen’s cheating. “Over and over again!”
The press presentation of Gooische Vrouwen had only one awkward moment yesterday, namely when Linda de Mol and her colleagues were interviewed by RTL Tonight reporter Jaïr Ferwerda. Where the show sections failed to deliver with all kinds of boring, non-issue questions, Jaïr did present her with an entertaining sore point.
“That’s your life!”
Jaïr thinks that Gooische Vrouwen is very reminiscent of the Gooise life of Linda herself. “Linda, I may have seen those first two episodes, but that’s just your life, isn’t it?”
At that moment, Linda is still laughing: “Hahahahaha.”
Jaïr: “No, but it’s all there… You’ve been through a lot privately, but that’s reflected, right?”
Linda: “Well, a lot of what we experienced obviously plays a role in this series.”
Cheating man
Fellow actress Susan Visser tries to save the day. “Cheryl (Linda’s character, ed.) is not a career woman at all, she just loves being ‘the wife of’.”
Jaïr then: “But he’s a man who keeps cheating. We’ve heard that too, haven’t we?”
Linda said very uncomfortably: “I don’t really know what your question is.”
Jaïr: “Well, my question is: you’ve been in the news a lot and I see that translates somewhat into that series.”
“Well, no!”
According to Linda, her husband Jeroen’s cheating had no influence on the scenarios. “Well, no, because Martin has actually been this character from day one and he has never changed at all. That was during a period when I was still with the father of my children, so no: you shouldn’t see it that way.”
Host Renze Klamer after that item in the studio: “Nice interview. Just an awkward moment.”
NU.nl entertainment chief Lara Zevenberg: “Yes, very uncomfortable, yes, but I understand Jaïr. I had the same feeling a bit.”
‘I get it’
Lara supports Jaïr’s painful question. “I watched the first episode and it is of course about Martin and Cheryl again. Martin cheats all the time, every season he has picked up someone else and somehow as a viewer you really want things to work out between Martin and Cheryl.”
“I was watching and thought: it’s quite strange that we all judge very harshly about Linda, who said: ‘I still want to continue with Jeroen.’ I suddenly thought of that. Let’s be honest: it’s a different situation, but I had to think about it, so I understand Jaïr in that respect.”
