Jan Slagter, the boss of Omroep MAX, did not miss Peter Pannekoek as presenter of the Golden Televizier-Ring Gala. “It was really a rich, beautiful and well-organized gala.”
Chantal Janzen is praised for the way she and Jan Smit discussed the annual Gouden Televizier-Ring Gala yesterday. Normally he does that with Peter Pannekoek, but he was too busy. Due to its 60th anniversary, the AvroTros chose an old acquaintance as a replacement and RTL was kind enough to lend her out.
‘Peter not missed’
Actually, we don’t need Peter at all anymore, Jan Slagter notes at the talk show table Pauw & De Wit. “It’s a bit strange to say: ‘Did we miss Peter Pannekoek?’ No, not in that sense. It is always nice when he is there, but it was really a rich, beautiful and well-organized gala.”
Not everyone agrees with that. Telegraaf reporter Rosanne de Jong writes in the newspaper: “Peter Pannekoek is missed. Although substitute Chantal Janzen absolutely does not hesitate to wipe the floor here and there with the NPO (…), it does not come close to the thigh-slapping roasts that Pannekoek served up last two years.”
Beautiful suit
Will AvroTros choose Peter or Chantal next year? Jan already seems to have a preference, as it turned out yesterday during the red carpet show of the Televizier gala. “Chantal, you are wearing a beautiful suit, as if you are getting married. Very beautiful,” begins presenter Splinter Chabot.
Chantal: “Yes, we are getting married. We hereby announce that.”
Splinter: “Well, that’s news. A different kind of ring. Jan, by the way, you seem to be getting younger every year. You also look incomparable.”
‘To marry? Keep!’
Jan then makes it clear that he is very charmed by Chantal. “Chantal and I are back together. You say marry, I say keep! Sorry, Peter Pannekoek!”
During the gala itself, Jan shouts just after a musical performance by Chantal: “Peter Pannekoek, eat your heart outI would say!”
