In the 5th week of the EuroLeague, Anadolu Efes hosted the Greek representative Panathinaikos, whose head coach was Ergin Ataman, and was defeated 95-81.

The first five minutes of the first period, which started with Ercan Osmani’s point under the basket in the 40th second and was balanced with mutual points, ended in a 12-12 draw. Taking the lead with Sloukas’ 3-point field goal at 2.57 minutes before the end of the quarter, the guest team left the first period ahead 22-21 with Cedi Osman’s free throws with 6 seconds left.

Entering the 2nd period with an 8-2 series, Panathinaikos started to widen the gap. At the end of the period, the home team, which was effective with Larkin, managed to reduce the gap, which had reached 8 points during the match, to 1 point with Beaubois’s 3-point shot, 23 seconds before the end of the first half, and went to the locker room trailing with a score of 43-42.

Ercan Osmari, who got injured and went to the locker room in the 3rd minute after the match started, was followed by Papagiannıs. With 5.28 remaining in the first half, Papagiannis was injured and fell down after being positioned under the basket. After the Greek player’s serious injury, the Panathinaikos bench rushed to his side and gave their support. Anadolu Efes’ success center left the field in a wheelchair. Both players could not take their places on the bench in the second half.
