A collaboration between Stockholm and South Shields
For fall/winter 2025, the Scandinavian lifestyle brand Arket and the traditional British label Barbour are joining forces for a limited capsule collection. The designs were created in collaboration between Stockholm and South Shields. South Shields is located in the north-east of England and is the birthplace of Barbour.
Shared love of nature
Inspired by the shared climate of Great Britain and Scandinavia and their shared love of nature, the focus of the collection is on modularity and functional layering. Iconic pieces from both brands have been reinterpreted in a natural color palette of blues, greens and blacks. These are combined in a specially designed tartan check. This refers to the coast of the North Sea and the rough landscape of the Baltic archipelago.
The campaign was photographed on Gotland by the British duo Hill & Aubrey. The Swedish cameraman Hampus Nordenson captured it on film. The result is an atmospheric, narrative photo report. It’s about the people who live and work on the island and their connection to the surroundings of stone, sea and endless sky.
Ella Soccorsi, Head of Design & Creative at Arket
“The idea was to celebrate the rhythms and environment of the north. This collaboration felt natural from the start. We share a commitment to craftsmanship and timeless design. We wanted to create something that fits both brands: Barbour’s heritage in outerwear meets our modern essentials and our functional, Scandinavian aesthetic.”

Timeless classics, reinterpreted
The collaboration focuses on new interpretations of Barbour’s classic wax jackets. These are combined with insulating layers, accessories and Arket basics. The basics have been adapted with materials and details from the Barbour archive. For men and women there is, among other things, a special edition of the Gamefair parka from the 1960s in deep sage green. It is designed to be paired with Arket’s 2-in-1 zip-off recycled down bodywarmer. For women, a matching colored scarf made of waxed cotton completes the look.

Other highlights include co-designed rubber boots, dry wax denim pieces and a tartan-lined onion quilted men’s down jacket. The collection is completed with a tartan-lined waxed dog jacket and a lambswool blanket. The latter is made by the Swedish wool weaving company Klippan.
Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear, Footwear & Accessories at Barbour
“We have always admired Arket for its modern take on functionality. This collaboration gave us the opportunity to explore our shared values in a new way. By reinterpreting archival classics from a Scandinavian perspective, we were able to create something that feels simultaneously familiar and innovative. It is deeply rooted in nature.”

The Arket x Barbour collection is available from next Thursday, October 16th. It will be available both online and in select stores worldwide.
