Mysterious teaser sparks speculation
On October 16, the band shared a teaser of what appeared to be new music on social media. In the short, riff-heavy clip, a colorful parrot can be seen in front of a studio backdrop, accompanied by the phrase “About to take flight”.
The teaser is cut in the Foo Fighters’ typical, energetic style and hints at a new release without providing any concrete information. There is currently no official title or release date. So fans continue to puzzle over what exactly the video is about.
Fan forums also pointed out that when the video was shared, metadata appeared that could indicate the song title “Asking for a Friend.” This title has not yet been officially confirmed, but the hint has fueled additional speculation.
Foo Fighters: New tour?
There is speculation online that the band could present more than “just” new music in the coming weeks – there is also a possible connection to the planned tour dates in Brazil. Whether the teaser is the start of a larger release campaign or just an individual project remains unclear for the time being. An official statement or confirmation from the band is still pending.
In any case, the Foo Fighters are active again after a long break: they have already played a shorter Southeast Asia tour and intimate club shows in the USA. To accompany these performances, the band released the new live EP ARE PLAYING WHERE??? VOL. 1, including their new drummer Ilan Rubin, who replaced Josh Freese in July.
30 years of Foo Fighters
This summer, the Foo Fighters celebrated their 30th anniversary and released the song “Today’s Song” (2025) to mark the occasion. It is the band’s first new music since the album BUT HERE WE ARE from 2023. In a statement, singer Dave Grohl looked back on their time together: “Over the years, we have had moments of unbridled joy and moments of crushing disappointment. Moments of beautiful victories and moments of painful defeats. […] We walked this path together, with each other, for each other, no matter what.”
The band’s self-titled debut album is also celebrating its anniversary this year. A new edition has not yet been officially announced. However, according to media reports, a double vinyl release with six bonus tracks is planned.
