The police seized several e-scooters that could reach “hallucinatory speeds between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour”. Because most of those steps cannot be technically modified, they are now permanently destroyed.
Mayor of Roeselare and chairman of the RIHO police zone Kris Declercq emphasizes that the action is part of a broader approach. “With these checks we show that raising awareness helps, but that there are also limits. Anyone who behaves recklessly on an e-scooter puts others at risk. We want to keep our streets safe for everyone who behaves responsibly.”
