The carnival association De Blauwwituiltjes in Goirle is very sad after the death of youth councilor Anne-Roos (10). The girl died on Tuesday afternoon after a traffic accident on Dillenburglaan in Tilburg.
The association shares its grief on social media. “Our niece and youth council member Anne-Roos died completely unexpectedly as a result of a traffic accident,” the board writes. “We are completely paralyzed after we received this message.”
The association describes according to Omroep Tilburg Anne-Roos as ‘a sweet girl full of love and friendliness, always cheerful and with her heart in the right place.’ She was known as someone who was always there for others, ‘a real winner’, according to De Blauwwituiltjes. “Unfortunately, Anne-Roos only lived to be ten years old.”
Major impact in the neighborhood
There is an impressive memorial site at the site of the accident on Dillenburglaan in Tilburg. Dozens of candles burn among flowers, cuddly toys and notes with kind words. Local residents, classmates and friends come together to say goodbye.
De Tilliander primary school, where Anne-Roos was a student, commemorated her death on Thursday. Students and teachers held a vigil to remember her.
Investigation into the circumstances
The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon around half past four. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded en masse after reports that a girl on her bicycle had been hit. Anne-Roos was rushed to hospital, but later died from her injuries.
The motorist has been arrested. A blood test was done to investigate whether alcohol or other substances played a role. The police are still investigating what exactly happened.
