As a precaution, the municipality is sending a letter to all 1,300 households in the district. It contains information about requesting a replacement voting card.
Based on the story of a resident of the district, city channel AT5 writes that stacks of voting cards were found loose on mailboxes. A PostNL spokesperson does not know whether this is correct and says that research is still being conducted into “the exact cause” of the fact that some voting cards have not arrived.
In Sittard-Geleen, more than 2,000 voting cards were recently not delivered. According to PostNL, the delivery person responsible for delivering those passes has been suspended. According to the spokesperson, this was due to “negligence” on the part of the postman. “We are sending out 12 million voting cards,” said the spokesperson. “In general this is going well, but things can go wrong somewhere in such a large operation.” New voting passes have been sent and delivered in the Limburg municipality.
