Two Bundesliga talents made it into the final selection for the “Golden Boy” award. The award, initiated by the Italian “Tuttosport”, votes on the talents who stand out for their clubs and national teams through particularly good performances within the calendar year – i.e. across seasons. Condition: You must be under 21 years old and playing in Europe’s top 25 leagues during the relevant evaluation period.

The selection process consists of an algorithm, the so-called “Golden Boy Index”, and a final vote by 50 journalists from all over Europe. An initial list of 100 names was published in May, and now a cut has been made based on the “Golden Boy Index”, which is mainly made up of sporting performance, playing time and club strength. The top twenty talents from the list, which was updated every month, as well as five wildcards make it to the final, where the jury votes.

With Leverkusen’s new signing Eliesse Ben Seghir, who came from AS Monaco for 32 million euros, a Bundesliga professional has made it into the last 20. In addition, Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham has one of five wild cards.
