The Czech Republic suffered a serious defeat against the Faroe Islands. Now there is a personnel cut.

An embarrassing 1-2 defeat against football dwarfs Faroe Islands was too much: the Czech Republic parted ways with national coach Ivan Hašek after the embarrassing defeat in World Cup qualifying. Three days after the disappointing result, the Czech Football Association confirmed the dismissal on Wednesday.

Association president David Trunda announced that the new coach might come from abroad. An interim coach could be on the sidelines for the final group game in November against Gibraltar.

The Czech Republic is currently in second place in qualifying group L – a position that entitles them to take part in the play-offs in March. However, the lead over the Faroe Islands, who will play against Croatia in November, is only one point. The Czech Republic last took part in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.

Hasek took over the national team before the 2024 European Championship. The 62-year-old had already looked after the team for five games in 2009.
