Urs Fischer sees himself back in the coaching bench of a club soon. “I miss the daily work on the pitch,” said the former Union coach in an interview with Transfermarkt. “Working together with the team is something that means a lot to me. And I have to say: I would now be ready to take on a new task again.”
Fischer’s departure from 1. FC Union Berlin was almost two years ago. The Swiss also took a long break before signing in Berlin. At that time, a successful time at FC Basel had come to an end. Fischer also looks back with pride on his five years in the capital, during which the Iron Men went from the 2nd Bundesliga to the Champions League.
“When you are so successful, you can be proud and satisfied,” sums up Fischer. “Everyone deals with it a little differently, but for me: Satisfaction and pride should never be too great, because football is very fast-moving. One season ends, the next begins and it can turn out completely differently than you planned. But looking back, you can say that we achieved something special together. It was also a great time for me personally: Five and a half years as coach of a Bundesliga club, you have to do that first, especially in a business that is constantly changing” (Here you can find all the statements: Fischer about his time at Union Berlin).
