October 15, 2025 – 3:00 p.mReading time: 2 minutes

A fan racially insults a professional from Eintracht Braunschweig. The perpetrator has now been identified. The club and the police react.
After Eintracht Braunschweig’s defeat against SC Paderborn before the international break (1:2), a BTSV player was racially insulted by a fan. The police confirmed this when asked by t-online.
According to a report in the “Braunschweiger Zeitung”, the Eintracht professional affected was offensive player Sidi Sané. He came on as a substitute against Paderborn in the 75th minute of the game, but was unable to prevent BTSV’s fifth second division defeat of the season.
As the police further explained, the man who insulted the Eintracht professional was subsequently identified. An investigation is now being initiated against the accused for inflammatory insults.
When asked by t-online, Eintracht emphasized that it condemned the incident “in the strongest possible terms” and was in close contact with the investigating police. We are currently considering imposing a stadium ban on the accused person. “If the suspicion is confirmed, we will express this immediately,” said the BTSV.
According to the club, the topic was also discussed within the team – both with the affected player and with the entire squad. Eintracht made it clear: “Racism in any form has no place at Eintracht Braunschweig – neither in the stadium nor anywhere else. We stand for tolerance, diversity and respect.” We would like to provide information about the implementation of further measures in this specific case in due course.
In purely sporting terms, Eintracht and Sané continue in the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday. Then the BTSV will play away at Fortuna Düsseldorf (kick-off: 6.30 p.m.). During the international break, Eintracht won a friendly against 1. FC Magdeburg 6-0. In the league they are 15th in the table. However, we have been looking for a win since the second matchday.
