Together in “What your heart desires”
Reeves spoke warmly in an interview with E! News on October 11 about the American actress, who died the same day in Los Angeles at the age of 79. The two appeared together in front of the camera in 2003 for the film “Something’s Gotta Give” – with the German title “What the heart desires”. The main roles were played by Keaton and Jack Nicholson.
Seeing Keaton and Nicholson together in the film, written and directed by Nancy Meyers, still touches Reeves today. “It was cool to see her and Jack Nicholson together,” the Canadian actor told E! News. “Just the shared history and the affection and love that they had for each other. It’s really cool.”
Nancy Meyers in mourning
Nancy Meyers, who, in addition to “What Your Heart Desires,” also worked with Diane Keaton on “Baby Boom” and “Father of the Bride” Parts 1 and 2, also expressed her deep sadness at the Oscar winner’s death. “The last 48 hours have not been easy,” the writer and director posted on Instagram on October 13th. But: “Seeing all your memories of Diane was a comfort.”
“I will miss you forever”
As a “film lover,” she knows that the industry has lost “a giant” and that she has lost “a friend of almost 40 years.” Keaton felt like a sister to Nancy Meyers “because we shared so many unforgettable experiences together.” During their collaboration, she was able to observe how Diane Keaton always gave her all.
“When I had to make her cry in every scene in ‘What Your Heart Desires,’ she really went all out and then made it kind of funny,” Meyers recalled. “And I remember sometimes before a take she would spin in circles to intentionally get off balance or whatever she needed to get rid of in order to be in the moment.” She concluded by saying, “Thank you, Di. I will miss you forever.”
