On the square opposite the town hall there will be demonstrations against the arrival of an asylum center in Uithoorn and one just across the border in Amstelveen.
A police spokesperson said he cannot say anything about any threats surrounding tonight’s protest. “We will be present tonight in an appropriate manner and hope that it remains calm.”

An earlier demonstration in Uithoorn on this theme attracted about 200 people. A grim atmosphere arose when the demonstrators were not allowed into the town hall. A group of demonstrators attacked security and police. No arrests were made that evening.
