An air dehumidifier caught fire at jeweler J&B van Ark in Zuidlaren this afternoon. As a result, the store on Stationsstraat became full of smoke.
The fire brigade responded with fire engines from Zuidlaren, Gieten and Assen and quickly had the fire under control. The store is currently being ventilated.
Nothing is yet known about any possible victims. The police have closed Stationsstraat to traffic.
